Trustees, staff, patrons

LSPCA's trustees
LSPCA is guided by a group of dedicated and experienced trustees. Our chair is Dr Gray Matita, Head of the Malawian Veterinary Association who provides veterinary as well as strategic advice. Our other trustees include the director of the veterinary department, commissioner of police for the central region, director of the community health department of the Lilongwe council and several local business men and women.

LSPCA's patrons
We are privileged to have two wonderful patrons. Mrs Maria Nkhoma is our patron in Malawi. Maria is a well known radio presenter and an acclaimed singer. Maria promotes animal welfare through her broadcasts and represents LSPCA at important functions.

Mr Joe Inglis is our UK patron. Joe is a vet and tv presenter and author of several books on pets. Joe visited LSPCA in 2009 and got very stuck in helping at the community veterinary clinic. He has written about his trip to Malawi on his website http://www.petskitchen.co.uk/joespages/category/joes-vet-charity-in-malawi/

LSPCA's staff
Dr Richard Ssuna is our vet and programmes manager. Richard is responsible for the veterinary care of all LSPCA's rescued animals and also runs the weekly community veterinary clinic where he treats a variety of animals from cats and dogs to farm animals, rats and rabbits. Richard oversees LSPCA's education work in schools, the chicken care programme in the community and works with the police and government to improve animal welfare across Lilongwe.
